GIRARD, Sebastian. Edward Ruscha / Andy Warhol: Twentyfour Ones.
(Los Angeles, CA): Heavy Industry & Factory Publications, 1966 [in fact France: Sébastien Girard, 2025]. First edition. Softcover, 20.8 × 15.6 cm. A finely conceived contemporary artist’s book by Sébastien Girard, presented as the surviving publication from an imaginary 1966 collaboration between Andy Warhol and Edward Ruscha. The work proposes a meeting between the two artists at the Ferus Gallery in Los Angeles and extrapolates from their respective preoccupations with money, commercial printing, seriality, and the artist’s book. The book itself consists of twenty-four uncut U.S. dollar bills. Accompanied by a folded double-sided A2 poster, which develops the fiction further, reproducing a modified version of Ruscha’s Trade Catalog format and inserting Twenty Four Ones into a putative list of his early self-published books; the verso features a photograph of the imagined 1966 Ferus Gallery lunch with Warhol, Ruscha, Nico, Irving Blum, and Ken Price. Also includes an announcement card, completing the deliberately convincing period bibliographical apparatus. All items housed in a printed gold paper envelope. A near-fine example. Published in an edition of 200 copies, which quickly sold out.
