Constantine began photographing the scene in 1993 after returning to the Northern Soul clubs following a period away, initially visiting London’s legendary 100 Club. She subsequently travelled to venues including Manchester’s Ritz and photographed dancers and friends at clubs, all-nighters and private gatherings.
Rather than photographing solely as an observer, Constantine became immersed in the scene, often leaving her camera aside to dance and participate, and photographing when the lights came on. The resulting images capture the distinctive energy, fashion, movement and camaraderie of the Northern Soul revival of the 1990s. A very good copy in stapled wrappers.
