Scarce catalogue issued to accompany the exhibition Themanummer Portretten at Amsterdam’s influential photography centre De Moor. Bringing together work by Rineke Dijkstra, Barend van Herpe, Addie Timmer, and Jaap Bijsterbosch, the exhibition documented the work of a new generation of Dutch photographers emerging from the courses and workshops organised by Corinne Noordenbos at De Moor. As far as we can establish this is the first publication to feature the work of Dijkstra, who at the time was still studying at theGerrit Rietvold Akademie. The De Moor portrait workshops under Corinne Noordenbos have been cited as pivotal in Dijkstra’s artistic development, marking the point at which she began making the direct, frontal portraits that would later establish her international reputation Illustrated throughout.
