The Ex. 1936: The Spanish Revolution.

One of the most original publications to emerge from the British and Dutch post-punk movement, conceived as an integrated combination of documentary photobook and musical recording to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Spanish Revolution. Drawing upon the long-inaccessible archives of the CNT and FAI preserved by the International Institute of Social History in Amsterdam, the book reproduces 144 pages of contemporary photographs, many previously unpublished, accompanied by bilingual English and Spanish texts emphasising the social revolution and workers’ collectives rather than the military history of the Civil War. Accompanied by two 7-inch 45 rpm records. The accompanying records feature four songs recorded by The Ex, including contemporary interpretations of the revolutionary songs El Tren Blindado and Ay Carmela, together with newly written compositions, They Shall Not Pass and People Again, inspired by the anarchist struggle. The book in very good condition, the singles, housed as issued within the covers, appear unplayed.
