SAWATARI, Hajime and HANAYO. Tenko.

A collaborative project between photographer Hajime Sawatari and artist-photographer Hanayo centred on Hanayo’s daughter, Tenko. The volume combines Hanayo’s long-term photographic record of Tenko’s childhood and adolescence with photographs made by Sawatari after Tenko met him as a teenager. The project explicitly references Sawatari’s celebrated 1973 photobook Alice, which had been one of Tenko’s favourite books while growing up. A very good copy in boards, with small text (Japanese and English) sheets laid-in.
