LOFTSTEDT, Nils Petter. The Pier.
(No place): Pierre-von Kliest Editions, 2010. First edition. Softcover. 26cm by 19cm. Unpaginated. A visual chronicle of an ambitious street art intervention undertaken by Swedish photographer and filmmaker Nils Petter Löfstedt and collaborator Erik Vestman beneath an abandoned concrete pier on the outskirts of Malmö, Sweden. Over the course of five months in early 2009, the pair transformed a neglected, anonymous space under the pier into a habitable and visually arresting room. The volume documents the entire process of this guerrilla project — from clearing debris and seaweed, to painting walls white, laying parquet flooring, and framing architectural elements like doors and windows under the stark winter light. Working principally by bicycle-transported materials and headlamp illumination. A very good copy in wrappers with the accompanying DVD directed by Nils Petter Löfstedt, which documents the project in motion — offering cinematic insight into the labour, conditions, and camaraderie surrounding the installation, including the subsequent use of the space by friends and community. Published in an edition of 750 copies.
