Manon. She Was Once Miss Rimini.

(Zurich): Scheidegger & Spiess AG, 2005. First edition. Hardcover. 21cm by 16.1cm. 127 pages. Introductory essay by art theorist Brigitte Ulmer. Nice presentation of Manon’s iconic 2002–03 photographic series. The work pivots on a fictional narrative: a young woman wins the local beauty contest “Miss Rimini” while on holiday in Italy in the 1970s and the artist asks, decades later, “What became of her?” Over fifty exquisitely staged self‑portraits, executed in Paris and Zurich, chronicle a dazzling gallery of imagined life trajectories — from small‑town diva and photojournalist to violinist, Bag‑Lady, or psychiatric patient — each a subtle meditation on identity, aging, role, and cultural expectation.
