CARRION, Uilses, Aart van BARNEVELD and Salvador FLORES. Ephemera: A Monthly Journal of Mail and Ephemeral Works.
(Amsterdam): Other Books and So, 1978. First edition. Softcover. Two sheets folded to, 32.2cm by 23cm, to make eight pages. Issue eight of this cool magazine that was an international, collaborative artists’ magazine that functioned as part of the mail art network. This issue still sealed, (it has to be cut to be read), it includes contributions by Jan Hendriske, Jemery Alden, Alessandro, and others as well as an artwork by Mekka. A very good copy. The issue’s cover announces “Padín and Caraballo Are in Jail!”, referring to the arrest of Uruguayan mail artists Clemente Padín and Jorge Caraballo in 1977 and the campaign for their release — reflecting Ephemera’s role not just as art documentation but as a node in activist transnational networks.
