WILDE, Oscar. Individualisme en Socialisme.

(Amsterdam): De Maatschappij voor Goede en Goedkoope Lectuur, 1913. First Dutch edition.  Hardcover.  18.5cm by 12.1cm.  66 pages.  The essay was first published in 1891 under the title The Soul of Man under Socialism in the Fortnightly Review and is translated here by P.C. Boutens and issued as part of the Wereldbibliotheek series.   Functioning as a plea for individualism, the essay emphasizes the need for personal freedom in the midst of emerging socialist ideals, placing them within the broader context of its time, in which the Industrial Revolution and social inequality provoked fierce debates about the role of the individual person within society.  A very good copy in printed boards.  Uncommon.
