O’CONNOR, Jim and MOWTOWN Pamela. They shop at Poseur because they don’t know any better.
(Los Angeles, CA): Self-published,1979. First edition. Single sheet. 27cm by 21cm folded to 21.cm by 13.5cm. Cool promotional card announcing the Poseur relocation to street level at 7154 at Sunset Boulevard. The cult Poseur store was opened by Mr Freedom designers Jim O’Connor and Pamela Mowtown. Leaving Mr Freedom, and London, O’Connor and Mowtown moved to New York (where they achieved some success, including a four-time sell-out punk collection for Macy’s department store in 1977) and then Los Angeles opening the legendary ‘Poseur‘ punk fashion store on Sunset Boulevard and later Melrose Avenue. Michael Jackson bought a bondage jacket from the store, reproducing in in leather and wearing on the cover of the Bad album. Jackson’s team later circulated a claim that he had designed the outfit himself—something O’Connor refuted by producing the original Jackson purchase receipt and his design proof. This is a very example. Uncommon.
