The volume explores why collectors pursue books, how they distinguish value, and the emotional as well as intellectual allure of building a personal library. The work includes sections on terminology, book history, issue points famous bibliophiles, and practical guidance for beginners and seasoned collectors alike.  The is also an interesting section listing six hundred first editions, issue points, and contemporary values.  Illustrated.  A very good copy, crease to first few pages, in a good example of the dustwrapper.  Dustwrapper, faded at spine, with long closed tear and some loss at head and tail.  This copy signed by the author.
