(The exhibition was originally held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.). Introductory essay “Fashion is the Avant Garde of Circumstance” by Diana Vreeland (who was also the consultant for the exhibition), as well as essays by Yvonne Deslandres, (in French and Japanese), Mitsukuni Yoshida and others. Texxt in English and Japanese. The volume is sumptuously illustrated with over 150 folio color photographic plates of fashion designs by highlighting devine, to~die~for couture creations by Poiret, Vionnet, Callot, Molyneux, Chanel, Schiaparelli, and Alix. This is a near fine copy in red cloth housed in publisher’s matching slipcase.
