(SOLD): VERTESSEN, Lilane. Lilane Vertessen.

(Antwerp): Cis Van Kets / Gallery Ornamenten, [1992]. First edition. Quarto. 43 pages. Binder showcasing the work of Lilane Vertessen. Vertessen was one of the first Belgian artists to use her own body as an artistic medium. There is a mysterious ambiguity in her oeuvre: the provocative role-playing suggests boundless exhibitionism. Nothing is less true. Again and again she takes refuge in a role play and hides in a cliché of ‘The Woman’: the vamp, the frolic, the diva, the lady, the queen, the femme fatale, the whore, the innocent girl. However, her real identity remains elusive. A very good copy, sheets including fold out pages, housed in a binder, with two postcards signed by the artist laid-in.
