SONCK, Jacques. Archetypes.
(Tielt, Belgium): Lannoo, 2011. First edition. Quarto. 126 pages. Classic portraits in the style of Diane Arbus and August Sander’s typology of the German people in the 1920s. Without passing judgment, Jacques Sonck confronts the viewer with charming and repulsive individuals: loners, eccentrics, dropouts and the deformed. Diversity in all its guises within the human species is portrayed without melancholy, compassion or the intention to ridicule. A very good plus in photo-illustrated boards without dust wrappers as issued. Like all of Snock’s books, nearly impossible to find.
