(SOLD): SHABAZZ, Jamel. Back in the Days.
(New York): PowerHouse Books, 2001. First edition. Large octavo. Introduction by Fab 5 Freddy and an essay by Ernie Paniccoli. Very scarce first printing of this superb volume that documents the emerging hip-hop scene. Shabazz was on the scene, photographing everyday people hangin in Harlem, kickin it in Queens, and cold chillin in Brooklyn. His photographs capture the street styling and attitude of the era, Kangol caps and Gazelle glasses, shell-top Adidas and suede Pumas with fat laces, shearling coats and leather jackets, gold rope chains, door-knocker earrings, name belts, boom boxes, and other designer finery. Reprinted numerous times, first printings of this cult classic are almost impossible to find. A very good plus copy in pictorial boards without dust jacket as issued. This example signed by the photographer.
