(SOLD): RICHARDS, Stan. Hobo Signs.
(New York, NY): Barlenmir House Publishers, 1974. First edition. Octavo. Unpaginated. Scarce volume illustrating around fifty hobo signs. Drawn largely from the symbolism of medieval magic and the mystic alphabet of the Cabala, hobo signs, sometimes chalked on curbs and sidewalks or appearing as tiny pencil marks on door facings or mailboxes and gates, served as a guide to anyone who knew the code, steering them away from discomfort and danger and pointing the way to good food and a feather bed. This a good copy in black boards with paper label illustrating a hobo sign affixed to the front board. A closed tear at the base of the spine. Scarce.
