Perrier was the head medical officer at La Maison Centrale de Nîme, and in that capacity would undertake one of the most sustained studies of prison art, with a particular interest in tattoos. The research for this volume was based on an analysis of over 2000 tattoos, and is a landmark work in the field. Illustrated with numerous small line drawings of tattoos. A very good copy in printed wrappers with foxing and toning to the covers, a bump to base of spine with resulting creasing, and some scattered foxing within.
