A rare and amusing tale in which James Crowthorne (Jim Crow to his playmates), whilst playing Humpty Dumpty in the Grand Amateur Pantomiming, falls off the wall and begins an adventure in Fairyland. One chapter is titled Wonderland which recounts his meeting with Alice and the Mad Hatter. Additional chapters include adventures with Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, Jack Frost and many other fairytale characters. Illustrated with drawings, including one of Alice, by the author. A very good copy in illustrated boards with gilt title lettering, previous owner’s inscription on front endpaper. Scarce, OCLC locates no copies in the U.S.
