(SOLD): MARIAN, Doina. Von Muri si Vom Fi Liberi. [We Die and We Will Be Free.]
(Bucharest, Romania). Editura Meridiane, 1990. First edition. Quarto. Unpaginated. The first book to record the events of the Romanian Revolution of 1989. Revolutions took place simultaneously in several countries, however the events in Romania were the only ones to lead to overthrow of a country’s government, and execution of its leader, thus ending 42 years of Communist rule in Romania. The volume here includes texts and interviews by Irina Nicolau, Ioana Popesu, Daniel Barbu and others, a moving Letter to America, by a 13 year old Romian child, reproductions of revolutionary graffiti as well as blurry and haunting images of the conflict. A good copy, with fold-out plates, cheaply produced but still an impressive and graphic publication. Scarce, the book was only sold for a few months before being withdrawn from sale and removed from libraries.
