(New York, NY): La Monte Young and Jackson Mac Low, 1963. First edition. Oblong octavo. Unpaginated. An early and formative example of the artist’s book, this unique publication was designed by George Maciunas and contains a varied body of work including concrete poetry, musical notation, graphics, and essays with contributions by Jackson Mac Low, La Monte Young, John Cage, Yoko Ono, Henry Flynt, Ray Johnson, and numerous other artists. Although not strictly a Fluxus publication, its development and production was a central event in the formation of Fluxus. It was the first collaborative publication project between people who were to become part of Fluxus. A good copy only, glue dried out on inserts which are now loose. Wrappers worn, heavily at the spine with loss to top and bottom, some light creasing and general wear. This example inscribed and dated (1963) by Jackson Mac Low. Re-issued in 1970, this true first printing is rare in commerce, and seldom encountered signed.
