(SOLD): JOHNSON, Brandon. The Almighty & Insane: Chicago Gang Business Cards from the 1970s & 1980s.

(New York, NY): Zing Magazine Books, 2016.  First edition.  Octavo.  Unpaginated.  An aesthetic appreciation of Chicago compliment cards: the hand-drawn graphics, the “Old English” typefaces, the outlandish names and clever slogans.  The practice of creating and distributing gang business (“compliment”) cards was popular in Chicago for over fifty years. These displayed the organization and branch, its active and fallen members, and rivalries.  A very good copy in blue cloth with silver lettering, without dust jacket as issued.
