IONESCO, Irina. Liliacées langoureuses aux parfums d’Arabie
(Paris): Chene / Galerie Nikon, 1974. First edition. Folio. An exquisitely produced silk-encased portfolio of 25 individual duotones, each measuring approx. 16 ½” x 12 ½” Irina’s work features lavishly dressed women artfully jeweled, gloved and made up, adorned with symbolic pieces such as chokers and other fetishistic props, posing provocatively, sometimes partially disrobed. A collection of strange, arresting portraits of languid exotic women including the photographers daughter, Eva, now a leading French actress. This portfolio compares its subjects to the lushness and luxuriance of orchids, lilies and narcissi.
Selected as one of the 50 Most Beautiful French Books of the Year, 1974.
Awarded a Silver Eagle for Excellence in International Book Production at the International Book Fair, Nice, 1975. All prints in very good condition housed in a ribbon tied portfolio case. Case with a small stain and some rubbing. A nice copy of this scarce and early Ionesco item
