(Toronto): Art Metropole, 1981.  First edition.  Softcover.  26.6cm by 20cm.  126 pages.  Introduction by Tim Guest.  French and English text.  An essential and early critical survey of artist books.  With contributions on seminal figures including Ed Ruscha, Sol LeWitt, Lawrence Weiner, and Jenny Holzer the volume documents the rise of the artist book as a conceptual medium from the 1960s through the early 1980s. Richly illustrated and thoughtfully compiled, it serves as both a historical record and a curatorial statement.  A good copy in wrappers, some wear to bottom corner of cover, with small loss.  Still a solid copy of this foundational reference in the field of artists’ publications.
