(SOLD): GOODWIN, Jack. On Booze.

(Berkeley, CA): The Duck Press, 1975.  First edition. Large folio.  [50 pages].  A collection of poems by Goodwin, best known for his satirical Beat opera The Pizza Pushe, on individual spirits and cocktails.  The poems are accompanied by line drawings of faces by Knute Stiles bartender at legendary Beat Generation hangout, and performance space, “The Place”. Printed on multicoloured pages, these whimsical, tongue-in-cheek ‘drink pairings’ aptly reflect the contemporary atmosphere of poetry, art, song, and substances.  A fitting collaboration for two fixtures of San Francisco’s Beat scene.  This a very good copy in printed wrappers, some darkening to the rear cover.  This example inscribed by the artist on the title-page.
