(New York and Woodstock, NY): The Flash, no date [1976-1979]. Folio. Seven issues of Gatewood’s rare photography magazine. Presumed issues Vol. 1 issues 1 to 5 and Vol. 2 issues 1 and 2. Presumed all published. Only issues Vol. 1 No. 2 and 5 and, Vol.2 No. 1 and 2 are numbered. Issues feature offbeat photography by the likes of Charles Gatewood, Toby Old, Marlin Minks, George W. Gardner, Karl Baden, and many others. Vol.1 issue 2 is devoted to tattooing, and features an interview with cult tattooist Spider Webb, and many vintage images of heavily tattooed men and women. This fantastic issue is signed by Charles Gatewood and Spider Webb on the rear cover and also has the stamp of The Tattoo Club of America, INC. Vol. 2 No.2 is devoted to American experimental thinker and author, Marco Vassi and this issue is signed by him on the cover. All issues in very good condition. A nice run, (believed to be all published), of this little known, and yet important journal.
