(No place): Self-published, 1981. First edition. Oblong quarto. 26 pages, stapled sheets, recto printing only. Visual and textual documentation of Fekner’s stencil graffiti from 1977 until 1981. The volume illustrates four of the pieces, thereafter follows a full listing that details the stencil text and location. These environmental/conceptual works consisting of dates, words, and symbols stenciled on roads, buildings, and cars appeared mainly in Queens, but also in the Bronx and Manhattan. Despite the diversity of media and appearance, the work demonstrates consistent interests involving general concepts of perception and transformation, as well as specific environmental and sociological concerns such as urban decay, chemical pollutants, mass media, and the plight of Native American Indians.
