(SOLD): ELGORT, Arthur. Personal Fashion Pictures.

(No place): Arthur Elgort, 1983.  First edition.  Quarto.  101 pages.  The photographer’s scarce first book, a collection of superb black and white images.  The book was never commercially distributed and given only to friends, colleagues, and supporters of the photographer.   Elgort’s 1971 debut in British Vogue created a sensation in the Fashion Photography world where his soon-to-be iconic “snapshot” style and emphasis on movement and natural light liberated the idea of fashion photography.    A very good copy, previous owner’s inscription on reverse of front endpaper, in very good dust jacket.  Published in an edition of 1500 numbered copies signed by the photographer, but far scarcer than the limitation would suggest.
