(SOLD): BERTELE, Rene and GYSIN, Brian. Le Jugement Du Vent.
(Paris): Editions G.L.M., 1936. First edition. The work is published with a full-page drawing by Brion Gysin. (His given name, as credited here was Brian, he later adopted the spelling Brion). Gysin's first published work, very scarce published in an edition of just 70 numbered copies, signed by the editor. Gysin first moved to Paris in 1934. and through an acquaintance with Marie-Berthe Au-renche, Max Ernsts wife at the time, he was quickly absorbed into André Bretons circle of Surrealists. He was invited to participate in a group exhibition of drawings at the Galerie Au Quatre Chemins in December 1935, but was abruptly excommunicated from the group on the morning of the opening of the exhibition. He would go on to have a solo exhibition of his work at the same gallery in 1939 and left Paris soon after. This is a near fine example, loose sheets laid into a printed orange wrapper.
