BELLMER, Hans. Die Puppe.

(Berlin): Gerhardt Verlag, 1962.  First edition.  Small quarto.  190 pages.  Beautiful volume comprising; 1. Die Puppe. – 2. Das Spiel der Puppe – 3. Die Anatomie des Bildes.  Bellmer’s first work was published in 1934 it was declared “degenerate” by the Nazi Party, and he was forced to flee to France in 1938, where Bellmer’s work was welcomed by the Surrealists around André Breton.  This volume illustrated with 15 colour mounted plates, and drawings provides an excellent overview of Bellmer’s work.  A very good copy, contemporary owner’s name / date to the half-title, in wrappers with the original clear plastic.  Issued in an edition of 2000 numbered copies.
