9999 – Superstudio. Morte e Miracoli dell’Architettura / Life, Death and Miracles of Architecture.
(Florence): S-Space, . First edition. Small oblong quarto. Unpaginated. Super scarce catalogue for the festival at Space Electronic, November 9-11, 1971. The catalogue describes itself as experience for conceptual, expanded, impossible, imaginary and reflected architecture. The event included an environmental fantasy with an ‘ocean’ constructed in the basement, plus plants and vegetables. Renato Ranaldi played his fart machine involving wooden wedges and balloons; Street Farm presented Street Scarecrows, meant to scare from the street, things that menace people like cars. The group UFO built a doric portico of plastic foam; Ziggurat presented tents of concrete; Marc Balet showed a movie ‘Dream House’. Superstudio’s project Twelve Ideal Cities presented a systematic, technologically advanced concept of the environment, the schemes expressed through grids or geometries. The event also included contributions from Ant Farm, 9999 who also designed the catalogue which came in two formats, like this in plain stapled wrappers and a version bound in sheepskin. This a good copy with inscription (unknown hand) to cover. Still a nice copy of this catalogue which is scarce in both bindings.
